VOTE FOR GOVERNOR MURPHY ON NOVEMBER 2,
2021
The League of Humane Voters of NJ
endorses Governor Murphy for another term!
The Murphy administration has promoted animal protection measures throughout his term in office.
Phil Murphy has signed into law bills:
Banning the use of wild and exotic animals in circuses - the first in
the country (A1923).
Banning dog fighting in trunks of cars (S975).
Making it easier for law enforcement officers to
rescue animals in danger (S2674).
Prohibiting courts from declaring a
dog "dangerous" if the dog is defending their owner.
Banning the
leasing of dogs and cats - a rent-to-own scheme that meant people paid more
for their animals in the long run and could lose their pets if they could
not keep up the inflated payments. (A4552).
Establishing the
possession of animal fighting paraphernalia as a third degree crime (S3146).
His Attorney General has limited the use of dogs in law enforcement.
Banning the sale and possession
of shark fins (S2905).
Through Executive Order (E.O.) 34, the
Governor banned bear hunting on state lands.
And this year, Phil Murphy halted the bear hunt entirely.
A vote for Jack Ciattarelli is a Vote for
Hunters.
Compared to his challenger, Phil Murphy is the clear choice for voters
who care about animals.
- Challenger Jack Ciattarelli has
criticized Murphy's decision to end the bear hunt and has celebrated
deer hunting in posts on social media.
Here's a short video showing Governor Murphy and
challenger Jack Ciattarelli talking about their positions on the bear hunt.
